Finding Beauty In The Rhythm

Common Time Coffee is a nano-roaster seeking to roast coffee and find beauty in everyday things.

We do this by sourcing excellent coffees, roasting to make these coffees accessible to the brewer, and focusing on relationships with producers and customers.

Operating Practices

Sourcing and Transparency

We source coffees from around the world that are incredibly complex and represent their origin well. Coffee is seasonal, so we source seasonally. We commit to our producing partners by creating long-term partnerships and consistent purchasing year after year.

We publish pricing details for each lot we procure and work with sourcing partners who do the same. We seek to work as closely with our producing partners as possible. Sometimes that will look like a direct trade relationship, other times we work with exporters. When this isn't possible, we work with trustworthy importers who are also committed to fair sourcing practices and transparency.

Roasting Style

Our roasting style seeks to showcase the incredible work of the producer and make it accessible to the brewer. We want to be transparent in roasting, highlighting what the coffee has to offer and roasting for solubility without reducing complexity. We roast to find balance, sweetness, and acidity.

We avoid labeling our roasts light, medium, etc., since these terms are not well defined and mean something different to everyone. We also don't want to put our coffee in a box...but if we had to, we would consider most of our coffees to be light or light-medium.

Quality Control and Resting

Excellency is everything, and we take this craft seriously. We want you to enjoy your coffee and we want to represent what we do well in addition to honoring the producer. We cup every single batch we roast, making sure it meets our standards before it is delivered to you.

We recommend waiting until your coffee is around 2 weeks off roast before brewing to allow it time to degas and continue in flavor development. We expect these coffees to maintain their quality for weeks beyond that as well. Every coffee is a little different and we'll provide guidance when we offer a coffee that doesn't fit this timeline. There's lots of opinions on coffee resting; we roast to order and ship the next day, so you can ultimately decide for yourself when to brew the coffee.

Production and Fulfillment Schedule

We are a nano-roaster, meaning our batch sizes are 2.6lbs or less. Ensuring consistent and reliable delivery requires us to be clear about our schedule and fulfillment.

All coffee is roasted to order. We roast on Tuesdays and ship on Wednesdays. Please be sure to place your order by Tuesday at 8AM CST to ensure your order is included in this week's roasting schedule. Orders placed after this cutoff time may be delayed until the next roast date.
