Join us for a tasting exploration through different coffee fermentation methods! We've partnered with Lucia Solis and James Hoffmann to bring you The Fermentation Project, a global live tasting event that explores different coffee fermentation approaches.
Coffee processing is how we describe separating the coffee seed, or bean, from the cherry it grows in. Different processing methods impart different flavors to the coffee, and fermentation is a key step in flavor development. It is rare for us to get to taste the same coffee processed different ways, so this kit and tasting event is a chance to see firsthand the role that processing and fermentation has in shaping coffee flavor.
The Coffee: This kit contains one coffee, fermented 4 different ways: mechanically demucilaged (no fermentation), wild fermentation (fermented with local, wild microbes), inoculated with Lactobacillus, and inoculated with Saccharomyces yeast. Be sure to watch the video below to learn more about these fermentation methods!
The Tasting Event: On Saturday, October 3, James Hoffmann will be going live on YouTube and hosting a guided tasting experience. You can follow along at home with one of these kits, getting to taste and learn about these fermentation methods and how they affect flavor in the coffee we drink.
Kits will begin shipping on Tuesday, August 25. Supplies are limited, so we recommend ordering now to secure your set. The cutoff for guaranteed delivery by the tasting event is Wednesday, September 23.
